    Seth Horan DVD

I just received my Set Horan DVD 'Between Two Oceans' with the cover signed by Seth to me!

I will be watching this tonight and tomorrow (it's a 2-sided DVD with over 2 1/2 hours of live performances and life on the road, documentaries, etc. from 2001 - 2007!

After viewing, I'll come back to give a full review. But I think we all know it's gonna be great!

Here's my review of side 1:

This is the performances side and it is broken into 4 main categories on the main menu: 2001; 2002-2003; 2004-2005; 2006-2007.

For the most part, the video is very good and clean. There is some stuff at the end that was filmed by someone else and has a bit of pixilization, but nothing that bothers me. The audio is excellent! No 5.1, but good clean stereo.

I have to say, it's refreshing to hear performances with nothing but the bass as the only instrument, or with the occasional acoustic guitar accompaniment (very tasteful). Too many bass soloists tend to let other instruments dominate their albums and performances, so Seth's approach is something I've longed for. Even better, Seth is an exceptional player/performer! He is comfortable with his audience and there are some funny moments to watch for throughout (I won't spoil it - you gotta see them for yourself).

Most of the filming is up close, so you get to see how/what Seth is playing. Each song is separated, being from different performances throughout each year, so you don't get one long show, but individual tracks that make it interesting.

I have to also say that the songs themselves are very good for bass, ranging from light folky pop to outright funk, and even using looping in the later shows. The 2006/2007 stuff is the highlight for me, with Seth getting LOWdown on one of the most beautiful Vampyer basses I've ever seen, blue LED inlays and all! But from the earliest stuff on up, what he does with his blue Streamer is well worth the price of this DVD. And I haven't even viewed the documentaries on side 2 yet!

Do yourself, and Seth Horan, and the Warwick community a well-deserved favor and order a copy... hear the famous Warwick growl in spades and witness a great bass experience unlike most others. Enjoy! I know I am. 8)

I don't know if he's a member or not, but on side 2 of the DVD under the 2005 menu, there's a gig where he has the shirt on and does a little comedy bit about the "ugly" in the name. Pretty funny, and all the while, he's vampin' on the Warwick!

Side 2 has some very nicely done documentaries. Too much to give away and spoil here, but I love the one called "In the Studio - the Making of Notwithstanding" and the footage from Warwick's 25th Anniversary. Great stuff that I'll be watching over again quite often!

I just got my copy today, which is weird since I'm geographically one of the closest to his homebase.

From what I've seen so far, I have to say that Seth is amazing. However, he needs to grow the hair back out. it's too cool.

That, and the Streamer Pro M sounds amazing.

Strange that it took so long to get to you - I live in Arizona and got mine last week.

That Streamer Pro M looks amazing too!

I stuck the DVD in the player as soon as it came through the door this morning.

It's so good. Inspirational and funny... Some awesome performances and the 2nd side provided some amazing insight into how it's all come together.

I'd love to know what the story behind the "snow video",on the 2nd side.
It must be old coz Seth has the long hair.Hard to believe such a nice, clean cut young man was once that scruffy looking ruffian.
On an entirely different nore,I hope yer kid brother is doing ok Seth,it's an amazing coincidence that his appendix burst 1 year to the day yours went. All the Horan men need to mark out this date & park themselves close to a hospital on that date.
