do you think 5string dark lord version can be produced from custom shop ?

I use 1 tone detuned heavy strings on my LTD (55-165 instead of 45-135 and ARGCF instead of BEADG) and the bass can handle it. (some sound ingeneer said "where do you hide that mammoth in your amp?")

But with DL specific construction to enhance low frequecies, i imagine it can be very powerful.

well, they did say that darklord comes exclusively in 4 string, so i dont think they'd go against what they said anytime soon.

as for going lower than F#... i dont think its feasible... quite honestly, i dont even buy into the idea of the "darklord tuning" of F# B E A ... in my experience, speed + low tuning = mud (unless you have a trebly set up where you'll end up going click click click - like this certain bassist we all know) ... and thats not even factoring the fact that you'd really have to spend extra on a cabinet that has the capability to produce the whole tonal spectrum of the darklord's F# ... what more a lower C#? scary...

having said that, yes, i tune my darklord 1/2 step below the standard E A D G ... it sounds a bit like a thumb, and thats why i like it

Ok, i don't know if i'm allowed to post this info here but, as a vampyre hunter, i have to report a good deal.

On saturday, i have tried a Tubepath head in a store in Paris. There, i saw a beautiful Vampyre LTD 4, 2003 edition, the same as mine (see pics on this thread) but on four strings version instead of five.

So we discussed about this beauty and the seller told me he couldn't find a buyer since 4 years.

Selling price appears to me to be very low. So if you live near Paris or want to do the trip for this bass, PM me and i'll tell you where to find it.

PS: the tubepath sounds great with my Vampyre, it's gonna be my new amp soon

In what pic-ups configuration are you using your vampyres guys?

    J-J or TJ-J?
I am using it in J-J with balance 50% for now.
I didn't know Vampyres had a J-J pup configuration. Is it a custom shop?
he probably meant he is currently using only one J among the 2 bridge J's
Oops...my bad...didn't read it clearly. I've noticed some pronounced difference when i run the Twin Jazz in single and series. In series, the tone is loud and heavy, in your face kind of feel. In single mode, it's very deep and growly. Love it either way...

hmmm, as for me, i notice i have more bass with TJ together, and more attack and treble with it in single J mode.

if im feeling a bit anemic on the treble side, i set it to single coil mode .... in a good amo though, its usually always TJ together.

    Seriously i don't like how tj+ j sound, it's kinda sucks.
i use only j-j curently -growly sound,
    or jast tj
but if i want to use tj alone it's not jast pull bass knob and and set ballance to 0 i need readjast seting on my amp .
But today i want to play with tj picup and try to find cool sounds...

P.S. 50% ballance means bridge pic up has 100% of output and neck 100%

    when i mean 0 % bridge has 100% and neck 0% and viseversa... :D

it depends on the amp. there are amps where J-J is better (those with too much bass) ... and there are amps where J-TJ is better (those with already too much treble).

with my amp set-up both past and present, J-J was only good for solo playing and i found it too thin when im playing with the band.

EQ-ing bass sound in the bedroom, in the rehearsal room and on stage are all different stories. what sucks in the bedroom is actually usually pretty good onstage. at least from my experience.

    I have the same story

P.S. The thing is that you room was not desigened for music, so when you play you guitar it gives you unwanted resonance, so when i am plaing in such room better have cub on wells then with out ,it will reduce that resonance a little bit
