hmm...houston, texas, Cunning Stunts-dvd, 1997..? I went to that show in Oslo, said the same there. Best Met-show ever.

I realized one thing the other day at rehearsal:

The Vampyre sounds really crap with earplugs, and fantastic without. The trebles and mids doesn`t shine through at all, and makes it hard to hear through the guitars. A little shame, but its pure hi-fi without plugs. Maybe I should try other filters or something.

    Anyone with similar experiences?

well, i tried ear plugs and everything sounded bad with it on!

but thats better compared to having a bass sound good with earplugs and terrible without *lol*

anyway, just to share, ive noticed the vampyre SN is really well suited for metal more than any other genre ... thats because it is choke full of treble.

it is still versatile but i find myself reaching for the darklord when it comes to playing something with a lot of left hand muting.

With ear plugs,as with basses, you get what you pay for.
Find an audiologist & get some CS plugs.

Hey, Im wondering about getting a Vampyre NT custom bass, but I dont really have so much experience with electronics and pickups. And the effect of the woodtype combined with this. The model and look im after is the same as the custom made #168. Here's the link: http://www.warwick.de/modules/custom...mpyre+NT&cl=EN
I want it with all the specials as the LED's and inlays + a Led in the "W" + maybe a nametag and perhaps the 3 lasers on the headstock.

Im playing some slaphand, and tapping but its mainly rock to black metall, so
I would really like to get a sharp growling sound too. Does anyone have any good ideas for what kind of pickups I should get, and If i should perhaps go for a different type of wood?

    Andhrimnir,

I can imagine it will look very impressive :D

It'll have a very snappy, articulate slap tone, and it's great for tapping. The only thing is... though it can sound very aggressive, it doesn't have your typical Warwick growl.

If I want my CS Vampyre to sound nasty I'll put the neck on TJ, equal pickup blend and finger pick right down next the the bridge. The position of the bridge pickup will allow you to get really comfortable doing so. I'll turn up the mids a bit, turn up the treble a bit and really dig in. Sounds pretty savage. Works for me anyway

Would be cool to have you in the club!

welcome Andhrimnir... i hope you could join the club, and just to help you, the Darklord is the 'growliest' in the vampyre family so far .. maybe you could use ovangkol for your CS.

im actually planning on having a CS vampyre thats all ovangkol + burl top + leds + TJ/TJ config... yep, that wont be anytime soon since i wanna really splurge on that CS.

Hey, thank you both. Im not gonna go for the Dark Lord though, cause I feel im losing more that im gaining from it. Gonna be the normal Vampyre NT. If I need the extra effect im just gonna get the extra out from a pedal or processor.
So I guess im gonna go for the standard pickups too, but Still not sure about the wood. I really like the look of the one I linked earlier, but I dont know how the sound is for that one compared to other types of wood.
None of the basses I have now is possible to see what kind of wood type it has.
And I really hope to become one of the Vampyre hunters out here. =)

Hey mate, might be able to help you out with the woods.
As said before the ovangkol gives a very nice growl and many Warwick basses use it.
Here I have 2 websites for you, which describe a bit every kind of wood:
    http://www.alembic.com/info/wood_body.html
    http://www.warmoth.com/bass/options/..._bodywoods.cfm

Hope I could help out. And yes that Vampyre from the CS you have sent the link from looks really amazing, I think that the quilted maple top is a must for a NT Vampyre.

Keep us up to date, on ur plans.

    Dober dan, kako se?
Haha welcome to the forum. I dont speak serbian, just my mother is born in Belgrade so I speak a little.

The Dark Lord has a 35" scale length, and in the Set you get the same things as with the other Warwicks (Trussrod tool, cleaning cloth, manual, some other papers I havn't looked at, all allen keys you need and 2 strap pin locks), except the wax which isn't needed...
    Also the gigbag.

Don't worry you can use dark lord in standart tuning(E,A,D,G).
but you ewill need to adjast bridge and picups.

Dark lord sound really different from SN so you need to try both basses.

35 scalle make sound more angryer but string tension incrised and it is more harder to play.

but if you want to use dark lord tuning(lowF lowB E,A) you will need secial amplification for this

Well, what can do only it's to play but in terms i am not good too.

Scalle means distance betwing nut and bridge if i am not wrong.
    34 scalle Vampyre SN or
35 scalle Vampyre Bo(Dark Lord) i think will be the same becouse thay can jast to put bridge more lower to get this saclle.

But each string doesn't have the same distance betwen nut and bridge becouse depend of tuning you need to move suddles to get right intonation
Right intonation means that you have at open freet and at 12th freet acsectly the same not and pitch.

But you need to wait about Florin, he can aksplein it more clearly and with better english
