I think I've read pretty good stuff about them. Check them out at www.drstrings.com. I have a coloured set on my guitar, and have noticed that they do flake a lot. Definitely fun enough to try them out I guess. 8)

I had a pair of the Black DR strings on my corvette of a while. They're not bad but the coating does flake off and looks crap, but look awesome when new. They're ok I prefer the non coated DR strings tone wise, but I don't think they have such a extended life over the non coated either.
    Worth a try though.

Hmmmm... I've been looking around the net (thanks for the link ThirdthumB) and they are pretty much unavailable in the UK. eBay seems to be the best option but Ģ35 for a set of strings?! :?

    Welcome to the forum gc.

It was a close call between the fretless bubinga and the Thumb BO when I auditioned them (I'd have had both if I could!). It's still one of my favourites!

    Thx, Radu

They didn't have a fretless thumb.. in fact, they had two of these and a fretless jazz bass with that shiny phenolic thing Fender's doing now. I didn't even bother picking that one up until I'd put money down on this one I was going for fretless this time around... my fretted basses tend not to inspire so much.
