Here's mine, it seems quite embarassing in comparison with what I've seen here, but oh well, I larv' it. Anyone know when/why they were discontinued? I know they're not the classiest looking of warwicks but it plays extremely well. Poor guy.

There ain't no such thing as an embarrassing Warwick, and yours looks great! I think the Streamer Standards were discontinued because they were ported over to the RockBass line, though the Rockbass is constructed with different woods in a different factory.

Guess we can consider our Streamer Std.s as rare prize instruments now! :D

I looks like my Streamer Std. is no longer going to be my only Streamer anymore thanks to a beauty that showed up on eBay. More to follow...

    Dude,

it's anything but embarrassing. I personally think it is a very sweet looking Warwick. I love minimalistic basses, and the Carolena wood looks great. Welcome to the forum man, although you've been a member for almost a year now...... :D

    Lex,
What's the difference between the two white streamers? If there is no physical difference than what is the sound difference if there is one?

  14. #54
They're pretty much identical, although one has a crack in it

Cool thanks. So why two identical ones then?

  16. #56
So here's my latest entry into the Streamer Club - a 1999 AAA Flame in a custom blue (looks like denim rather than ocean blue) high polish finish:

I know I said I wasn't going to be able to buy any more Warwicks so I was going to keep the SSI a distant dream to always shoot for. Well, I must have lost my mind, but when the right Warwick comes along, and at only 1600.00, sometimes the mind has to give way to the heart. And after having gotten a stent and a pacemaker put in a couple weeks ago, I know a lot more about my heart...

Oh how did you get the crack? and where is it on the bass? I'm only asking so many questions because I want a high polish finish on my next bass and I am worried about cracks. Do you think that there is a chance of getting cracks on the back of the neck from truss rod adjustments?

Absolutely not. There is no way the paint will crack from normal use.

The crack is on the body near the control cavity. This was sustained because something heavy was dropped on the bass while I was on tour. The body actually sustained a crack, and this caused a crack in the paint.

The only other sign of paint wear and cracking is around the fingerboard, but this is ONLY because the fingerboard is painted. In the future if I do another high polish bass I will leave the fingerboard natural.

I just got off the phone with Tyler at Dana B. Goods. I got a JAN III coming my way to put on my new blue baby SSI. While I had him on the phone, I inquired about my Streamer Std., as it has an '06 serial number, yet they were discontinued in 2000. I figured it was because the neck had been replaced and Tyler confirmed that my swirly bubinga top Streamer Std. is a LTD ED from 2000 and the neck was replaced because the original neck had a broken truss rod and the owner had passed away. Instead of the wife taking a hit on the bass, Dana B. Goods gave her a fair price for it, replaced the neck, and then sold it to the dealer in Denver, who auctioned it on eBay and that's how it went from me seeing it in person at DBG to me buying it off the web!

Tyler's going to see if he can find some more history and the original serial number, and if he can, he'll email that to me as well.

I had suspected as much, but still, it's so cool to find out I have a rare LTD ED. in my possession! :D

I know I've complimented this bass on TalkBass, but damn, you were lucky to get that bass at such a great price. I wouldn't hesitate a bit to buy that bass for the price you payed, and I'm living on student loans.

Yeah, good to see you at both places! :D

The other problem I have isn't just the money, but I'm married too! I can be mean and say my wife knew I was a musician with a bad case of GAS, but she married me anyways, but that just wouldn't be right...

I hope I'll find a girl to marry who is as understanding as yours.

But then again, I don't understand how anyone can question the fact that Warwicks are more important than clothes and shelter (and shoes...)? 8)

TBH it's been likened to Bubinga Pommelle but I'd say it's too light-weight for that and/or Afzelia Pommelle... I assume Pommelle is a term for 'fancy swirly bits' but I'd not be able to swear which it was!

Your SSTD looks better than mine (haven't posted it yet). Same specs, but mine has a darker body color and is more beat up.
